Configuration options for the Catalog Enrichment section of the Library System and Library Location.

Catalog Enrichment Configuration

Go to Pika Configuration and Library Systems from the left sidebar.

Click the Library Id number, or the Edit link to gain access to the Library Systems page.

Click on the Catalog Enrichment tab.

Show Standard Reviews

If the Show Standard Reviews option is enabled, Pika will display reviews from your enrichment provider (either Syndetics or Content Café). Typical reviews include Publisher's Weekly, Booklist Review, and other sources. Standard reviews display under the heading Published Reviews in the detail record view.

Show GoodReads Reviews

If the Show GoodReads Reviews option is enabled, Pika will display user generated reviews from the social media site GoodReads. GoodReads reviews display under the heading Reviews from GoodReads in the detail record view.

 

 

GoodReads reviews may have features common in social media platforms including GIFs, images, and curse words. These will display in Pika if the GoodReads Reviews option is toggled on.

Prefer Syndetics/Content Café Description

The Prefer Syndetics/Content Café Description option designates that Pika should prefer the description from your enrichment provider (either Syndetics or Content Café) when there is both a description from the enrichment provider and there is a 520 MARC field.

Show Similar Authors, Similar Titles

The Show Similar Authors, Show Similar Titles option will display readers advisory information from Novelist in the full record display.

 

 

If the Show Similar options are toggled on for your library, Similar Series information from Novelist will also display in the full record display if the title is part of a series.

Show Content Enrichment

The Show Content Enrichment (TOC, Excerpts, etc) option will display additional content enrichment such as table of contents and excerpts from the enrichment provider (either Syndetics or Content Café) if provided.

Enable User Ratings and Reviews

The Enable User Ratings option allows users to rate titles on a scale of one to five stars. If this option is enabled, ratings are displayed throughout the catalog.

 

 

The Enable User Reviews option allows borrowers to add reviews to titles. 

 

 

The Ratings and Reviews options can be enabled independently of other another. Typically, the Ratings option is more popular. If the Reviews option is enabled in conjunction with the Ratings option, users are prompted to leave a review when adding a rating to a title. Users can disable the review prompt and reenable it in the My Preferences section of the Account Settings.

Hide Comments with Bad Words

If the Hide Comments with Bad Words option is enabled, any borrower reviews with curse words will be hidden from the user reviews section for all users except the original poster. If this option is disabled, and a curse word is used in a review, that curse word will be censored and replaced with asterisks.

Enable User Lists

The Enable User Lists option allows patrons to create user lists. For more information about user lists, please review the User Lists Guide documentation.

Marmot staff recommends that all libraries enable the Enable User Lists option.

Show Wikipedia Content

If the Show Wikipedia Content option is enabled, information from Wikipedia is displayed on the author page for a given author if there is a Wikipedia entry for that author.
