If your library has acquired the SIP Circulation Interface, the Automated Self Check-out Messages Table enables you to customize some of the messages that display on the screen of your SelfCheck units. The system displays these messages in the Data Elements section when a transaction is blocked.

Functionality Information

When viewing the Automated Self Check-out Messages table, note the following:

  • The Automated Self Check-out Messages table always contains exactly ten entries. Marmot can edit existing entries, but cannot create new entries or delete existing entries.

  • Some Messages Are Not Customizable

    • Messages alerting you to error conditions are hard-coded and therefore not modifiable

    • There are only ten entries allowed in this table

Data Elements

Entries in the Automated Self Check-out Messages table contain the following data elements:

Event

A description of the condition under which the message displays (for example, Patron barcode). You will have view access only. Marmot staff are the only ones who can edit these elements.

Message

The text that displays on the screen when the system encounters the condition described in the Event element (for example, Your library card number cannot be located, please see a staff member for assistance. )
