Item Record ICODE2 Codes (Sierra)
This document overviews ICODE2 suppression display codes for the MLN1 & MLN2 Sierra systems. It should be noted that not all codes are used for suppression purposes.
Your organization determines the name and purpose of this field, its codes, and the codes' definitions. The ICODE2 or Item Code 2 is commonly used as a statistical category field. The ICODE2 is mainly used as a suppression code in Sierra. The system can check the validity of your entries in this field. However, sometimes, these codes are not used for suppression.
Viewing Item ICODE2 Fixed-Length Codes
The field ICODE2 is a fixed-length item in the item record. It is mainly displayed in standard SDA circulation functions by Sierra, but it can also appear in record browse displays for the Classic and Catalog or Pika Catalog. Some ICODE2s are generated by the system (such as Suppression). In contrast, others can be added by library staff (like Withdrawn or Weeded) to indicate that an item is not available for circulation.Â
Note:Â Pika settings may be changed when the consortium decides they want a modification on how items will display using the ICODE 2.Â
