Requests by Staff for Prospector Items for Patrons

With the new Sierra password requirement, the process to place Prospector holds on behalf of patrons will change. Library staff can place an item-level Prospector hold for a patron without using the patron’s password with the process outlined in this document.

  • Search the Prospector catalog for the item the patron wants to request

  • Click on the Request it button.

  • The system displays the Web Access Management patron verification box with a dropdown to choose the location of your library. All the affiliated institutions are listed in the dropdown menu.

  • Choose the appropriate library from the affiliated lists. Click on the Submit above information button.

  • Enter the patrons' name in the Your Name box.

  • The override code gets entered into the field your library uses to identify the patron. In this example, we are using a library that has Library card number.

    • Contact Marmot to receive your library’s override code.

      • Override codes will be constructed as follows

        • /override/patron barcode

  • Leave the Password/PIN prompt blank.

  • Click on the Submit button to access the available titles for the hold.

  • Choose the item to place the hold and click on the Request Selected Item button to place the hold for the patron.
