Multilanguage Notices (LX Starter)

This documentation covers multilanguage notices in LX Starter.

Table of Contents

Multilanguage notice functionality is only available on MLN1. Emailed notices can be sent in English or Spanish on MLN1 but only in English on MLN2. For patrons to receive Spanish notices on MLN2, see the Shoutbomb documentation.

Add an additional language template

You can add up to three language templates per notice type and assign the templates based on patrons' preferred language.

You can add language templates to notices that have the status of Draft. If the status of the notice that you want to add a language template to is Setup required, see the Set up notices documentation to design and save the notice. When you save the design and close the email editor, the status changes to Draft.

Patrons who don’t select a language preference receive the default template, so create the default template in the language that the majority of your patrons speak.

Instructions

  • To add a language template

    • On the Sequences tab, select the notice that you want to use as the default for additional language templates.

    • On the Languages tab, select Add a Language Template.

    • In the Template Language section, select a language from the list.

    • Select Save Template.

      • The system duplicates the default template and applies the selected language.

Edit a language notice template design

You can edit notice templates for a specific language. You can edit notice templates that have the following statuses:

  • Draft

  • Published

Instructions

  • To edit a notice template

    • On the Sequences tab, select a notice.

    • On the Languages tab, do one or both of the following:

      • If you have more than one language template, on the Languages tab, select the language you want to edit.

      • Select Edit Template Design.

    • In the email editor, edit the notice template as desired. See the Email Editor documentation for more information on editing the notice template.

Publish a notice that has multiple templates

When you publish a notice that has multiple language templates, LX Starter publishes all the templates. You can’t publish language templates individually.

You can add or remove language templates or edit the design of templates after you publish a notice.

Instructions

  • To publish a notice that has multiple templates

    • On the Sequences tab, select a draft notice.

    • Select Publish.

Publish a notice that has language template changes

If you add a language template for a published notice, the template status changes to Unpublished Changes. After you publish the notice, LX Starter sends it as scheduled.

If you remove a language, LX Starter automatically unpublishes the language template and affected patrons use the default template instead.

If you add multiple language templates, you can publish them all or individually.

Remove additional language templates

You can remove additional language templates, but you can’t remove the default language template. If you remove a language template for a notice that is published, patrons who previously received the notice with the template you removed will receive the default template.

Instructions

  • To remove an additional language template

    • On the Sequences tab, select a notice.

    • On the Languages tab, select the language you want to remove.

    • Select Remove Template.

    • On the confirmation window, select Agree & Remove.
