Common Prospector Issues (INN-Reach)

This documentation details some common Prospector issues and the steps to take to resolve them.

Guide for Checkin Issues

The Prospector slip does not print correctly when checked in 

You may have to write down the information manually.

Barcode will not scan

  1. Add the letter b to the front of the barcode

  2. Add the letter p or x to the end of the barcode

  3. Add 9jcpp to the end of a Jeffco item

  4. Add 9 to the end of the barcode

  5. Do not include the letters at the end of the Prospector or Mobius barcodes

  6. If none of this works you may have to send the item back. You can also use the Prospector contact list to call or email the loaning library contact.

INN-Reach checkout that affects checked-in items

  1. After correctly checking out the item using the INN-Reach function, make sure not to check it in again using the Check In (No Patron) function.  This will cancel the Prospector Hold.

Prospector returned items cannot be checked out or deleted

  1. You have checked in one of your items that were returned from a Prospector hold, but it states the item is still checked out. This usually occurs when the borrowing library does not check the item into their system.

  2. Change the item status to @ PRSPCTR OFFCMP. Save your work.

  3. Check in the item using the Check In (No Patron) function.

  4. If the item still won’t delete, refer to the Cannot Delete Item Record section below.

Adding a barcode to a virtual item record

  1. Go to the Check Out (Circulation Desk) function and bring up the patron record. Go to the INN-Reach tab on the left sidebar. Look for the title that has no barcode. Right-click on the item and click the “Insert Barcode” and scan the barcode of the item.

Cannot Delete Item Record

If you are in the process of deleting item records, you may see the following error appear: ITEM cannot be deleted, use Solution ID 151113458767343 to clear the leftover INN-Reach virtual patron.

Item cannot be deleted error in Sierra

First, follow the instructions in Prospector returned items cannot be checked out or deleted section. If the item still won’t delete after following these instructions, submit a Service Request on the Marmot Help Desk with the item record information. Marmot staff will submit the item record to III on your behalf, as III is the only one able to resolve it.

Cannot Delete Patron Record

If you are in the process of deleting patron records, you may get an error that the patron cannot be deleted due to an INN-Reach item on their account. To clear this issue, submit a Service Request on the Marmot Help Desk with the patron record information. Marmot staff will submit the patron record to III on your behalf, as III is the only one able to resolve it.
