Google Analytics (Pika)

This document outlines the reports that Marmot can provide for Pika usage. These reports rely on Google Analytics.

Summary

Marmot utilizes Google Analytics to track and record relevant patron interactions with the Pika catalog and Marmot’s shared Digital Archive. These events can help libraries to show the usage of collections that do not normally lead to a circulation that gets stored in Sierra. Google Analytics can be pretty broad in the things that it can record, including online purchasing, which is not relevant for Pika. Marmot only uses a small section of the provided functionality and tracking.

Google Analytics Access

If you or a staff member at your library is familiar with and comfortable navigating the Google Analytics interface, we can provide access to view the property associated with your Pika instance. If you also participate in the Marmot Digital Archive, you can also find those events recorded in the same property. Marmot does not customize the views or reports in Google Analytics directly. You can request direct Google Analytics access using a Marmot service request through the helpdesk.

Tableau report for simple reports

For staff that want to know the simple number of page views that occur each month, Marmot also provides access to a simple Tableau report that shows page view totals for each library in our MLN1 and MLN2 systems. These Tableau reports do not have as many data filter options, so please be aware of the limitations.
