ILS/Account Integration

Go to Pika Configuration and Library Systems from the left sidebar.

Click the Library Id number, or the Edit link to gain access to the Library Systems page.

The ILS/Account Integration is something that Marmot will typically configure for you.  It normally does not change once it is configured.

ILS Code

The ILS Code is your code within the ILS.  Here is an example of Basalt “ba,” and Pitkin “pc.” The ILS code is used for building digital archive statistics. The ILS code is used to determine which school reports can be displayed to a library admin. The ILS code is used in the "More Like This" display to decide which scope to use. Library scope is used when the location code matches the library's ILS code.

Sierra Scope and Use Scope

The Sierra Scope is only used by Innovative Systems and is assigned by Innovative. This is the value for the scope in the Classic OPAC/WebPAC. The Scope does not change. The Sierra Scope is used when Pika interacts with the classic OPAC.

The scope is required for the following functionality:

  • To display extra information for periodicals and the check-in grids.

  • For libraries using Sierra bookings.

  • To import user lists from the classic OPAC.

  • The Sierra Scope is required to add Sierra Course Reserves.

    • Sierra Course Reserves can be added to Pika as a pathway for students to find Course Reserves materials in the classic OPAC.

The Use Scope is used with the holdings in full record view.  It will allow you to show everyone’s holdings or just the holdings within your Scope.

Here is an example from the Marmot Catalog that shows multiple library holdings. It shows both libraries who have Use Scope turned on (Fort Lewis and SD51 Schools), and libraries who have Use Scope turned off (Basalt, Gunnison and Pine River).

Show Expiration Warnings

The Show Expiration Warnings will show up when logged into Pika, and your expiration date is coming up soon. The warning will show under the My Account link.  Some libraries will not use Show Expiration Warnings, because they are using expiration dates differently.

Here is an example of an account that is going to expire. If the patron hovers over the information they will get a message to contact their local library to renew their card.

If the patron clicks on the message, they will get a pop-up box with the same information.

Expiration Messages

The Expiration Near Message (use the token %date% to insert the expiration date) is used to notify a patron that their expiration date is near.  Type in a message that you would like the patron to see when they login to their Pika account.  Include the token %date% to have the system populate the patron’s expiration date into the message. The character limit is 500. Save your changes, and it will take effect right away.

Here is an example of what a patron with an expiration date that is expiring soon will see when they login to Pika.

The Expired Message (use the token %date% to insert the expiration date) is used to notify a patron that their account has expired.  Type in a message that you would like the patron to see when they login to their Pika account.  Include the token %date% to have the system populate the patron’s expiration date into the message. The character limit is 500.  Save your changes, and it will take effect right away.

Here is an example of what a patron with an expired account will see when they login to Pika.

Materials Booking

The Enable Materials Booking is a system that requires that module to be enabled within Sierra. This is only available with Sierra and Millennium systems.  It allows people to reserve an item for use on a certain day.  The item cannot be checked out for this feature to work.

Allow Linked Accounts

The Allow Linked Accounts allows people to link their accounts. This is based on the patron’s home library.

You can find Linked Account information under Account Settings

When account linking is enabled, Linked Account information is at the bottom of the My Account page in the Linked Accounts settings.  There is more detailed information about linked accounts in the Linked Accounts in the Catalog documentation.

Show Library Hours Notice

The Show Library Hours Notice on Account Pages allows you to turn on or off the viewing of your library hours within the Checked Out Titles and Titles on Hold pages.  Library Hours are displayed when the Hours section of the Location Admin has information in it.

Here is an example of a library’s hours that are displayed within Checked Out Titles & Titles on Hold pages.

P-Types

P-Types are used for calculating how loan rules apply to titles in the library's scope and determine if the title is holdable or bookable.  A title must be considered holdable or bookable to these P-Types as a requirement for the ‘Place Hold’ button or ‘Book Title’ button to display.  Right now, this is just for Sierra systems.

The P-Types are a list of the patron types your library uses.   The Default P-Type is used when someone is not logged into Pika, the system will assume they are the P-Type that is listed under the Default P-Type. If a default P-Type is not set, then users will not see the ‘Place Hold’ buttons in records and search unless they are logged in.

Here is an example for a library that uses student (6) as the Default P-Type.  P-types are used in conjunction with loan rules.

For a consortium interface to display hold buttons, the P-Types and Default P-Types need to be set to -1
