High-Demand Holds Reports
This guide explains how to generate the High-Demand Holds Report.
High-Demand Holds Reports Overview
The High-Demand Holds report identifies the titles on which patrons place many holds.
High-Demand Holds Reports include the following types:
System-Wide Thresholds Reports
This report displays a comprehensive list of all the holds available for pickup at each library in the consortium. The system calculates the values in this report using only the threshold values specified for the pickup location in the Hold Thresholds table. If the Hold Thresholds table contains no entries, this report is empty (that is, the system does not display a table of results).
For MLN2 libraries, The system calculates the values in this report using only the threshold values specified for the <SYS> pickup location in the Hold Thresholds table. If the Hold Thresholds table contains no <SYS> entries, this report is empty (that is, the system does not display a table of results).
Selected Pickup Location Reports
You can find a list of items being held for pickup at a specific location. The system calculates the values in this report using the threshold values specified in the Hold Thresholds table for the pickup location for which you generate the report if the Hold Thresholds table contains no entries for the specified hold pickup location.
Update: Sierra updates the numbers comprising the High-Demand Holds reports during its nightly maintenance. When the number of holds or items changes, the reports display the updated amounts the following day.
Report Elements for System-Wide Thresholds Reports
The High-Demand Holds Reports include the following elements:
Column Heading | Description |
Title | The title from the bibliographic record |
Author | The author of the title |

This number includes items at all locations associated with your library. |
Report Elements for Selected Pickup Location Reports
The High-Demand Holds Reports include the following elements for Selected Pickup Locations Only:
The High-Demand Holds pickup location report does not match threshold rules by Material Type. This issue could manifest either by missing all titles for a given material type from the report or by using the wrong threshold, depending on whether a "* All MAT TYPES" entry exists for the pickup location in Hold Thresholds. In the meantime, staff can contact Marmot staff to have us create a High-Demand Holds Tableau report.
Column Heading | Description |
Local Holds  | The number of holds at the selected pickup location for this item. This number includes the holds on the bibliographic record and any attached item records. |
Local Items: | The total number of items attached to the relevant bibliographic record. This number includes only those items associated with the selected pickup location. Â |
