Polaris API

  • Username vs Barcode

    • Both can be used for login and username are avail

    • Patrons currently set username via a webform and there’s no way to reset it

      • Usernames are not stored in the ILS

  • Some dates are returned in Microsoft format.

    • In appsettings.user.json please check that JSONDateFormat is set to ISO.

      • Shouldn’t be happening anymore, III made updates on 07.15

Polaris patron options

  • E-receipts

    • E-receipt format (plain, html)

    • Does this need to be built in?

    • After checking out, patrons can configure e-receipts

  • Hold pickup branch

    • API includes a separate preferred pickup location in patron record (not home library)

    • Hold pickup library should be set as the ‘home library’ in Pika

  • Registered at field = home library (kind of)

    • Most patrons don’t really have a home library

    • Don’t want to change their registered at library

  • User defined fields

    • Are they used?

      • User 1 - User 5

    • From Beth’s email on 7/18

    • User 1 = Responsible Party Name

    • User 2 = Responsible Party Phone

    • User 5 = Alternate ID (probably not used)

  • Freeze out on 5 failed login attempts then frozen for 5 minutes

    • This is what the API says, might be a setting

    • How is the account login unfrozen?

    • Current settings are after 5 attempts then frozen for 5 minutes

  • Patrons can update their address in the catalog and should be able to in Pika

    • Kind of like in-transit?

      • Related to storage transfers (probably)

    • Currently unavailable

    • Won’t fulfill holds

Review Item Status translations

  • Grouped item status has translations for more specific item status

Adding grouped item status for “Shelving”

  • Ranked as higher than checked out and lower than “in library use only”

  • “Recently returned” will be more familiar

  • New distinction that we don’t currently have handling for

Format Determination

  • Previous index had basic default format handling

  • Some conflicting determinations

Patron Messages

  • Are messages used to communicate with patrons?

    • Holds, due soon, fines, etc?

    • Likely not used

  • Is it a 2 way communication (can patrons respond)?

    • No

  • No patron messages were found in the ILS (from email on 7/18)

Clearview to add a few checkouts, fines, etc. to a few of the test accounts
Clearview staff will investigate what User defined fields (User 1 - User 5) fields are in the patron record
