Spine label printing

Everyone on MLN2 is using print templates for spine labels. Everyone is using subfield |f for prestamps.

GMD controlled vocab

The list of GMD terms includes both dvd/blueray and blueray/dvd. Do we need both of these? Yes, people want both. Pika is grouping them regardless, so that’s not a problem.

Lots of weird item variable fields

• Fund code field - Not in use

• Search - Not in use

• All search - Not in use

• Responsibility - Optional local use. Used to make sure items go back to the same person to work on in changes are needed in the future.

• Item field - Not in use

• Shelf date - Not in use

998

Will be optional, but if records are merged the 998 should be preserved.

Audience fixed field

The default loaders pulls this from bit 22 in the 008. The other load profiles might do something else. Some format types will use bit 22 for something other than audience, so sometimes this will get data that does not make sense. These format types are maps, kits and continuing resources. This is not something that would be easy to change, so we don’t plan to change it, but we could. It would be a major project in the future. Pika does not need this field.
