The following applies to libraries on both MLN1 and MLN2 Sierra servers (all Marmot members).
The Sierra patch upgrade is scheduled for after-hours tonight (Tuesday, August 20th), starting at 10 p.m. Sierra should be available to everyone for the opening of the 21st.
For your desktop clients to communicate correctly with the upgraded Sierra server, you will need to clear the jarcache tonight upon closing or tomorrow morning before opening. Below are the instructions for clearing the jarcache. If anyone has any questions, just let us know.
Clearing the jarcache
With Sierra upgrades, the jarcache folder will also need to be updated. The steps to clear this out can be found HERE.
Frontline circ staff
Ensure you know who is responsible for clearing the jarcache before closing tonight or before opening on August 21st.
Make sure to only bring up one Sierra session at a time on the morning of the 21st. Allow all jarfiles to download and Sierra to fully log in before starting the application on the next computer. This will ensure the Sierra server isn’t overloaded by too many requests when opening.
Catalogers or someone who runs Sierra on their own work computer or home computer
You will likely be responsible for clearing the jarcache on your computer, but check with your manager to make sure they don’t already have plans to do this for you.
Here are the release notes. The fixes applicable to this patch say "Fixed in Sierra 6.2.0_12".
