Basic Navigation and Configuration
The NPR Best Books We Love Lists functionality for Pika fetches data from the NPR Books Concierge and uses the same unique patron account in the underlying ILS for that is used for connectivity to the New York Times APIs. The API connection is global per Pika site, meaning the API is available for all libraries belonging to a global Pika interface.
Access the NYT NPR Books we Love Lists configuration from the NPR Best Books We Love Lists option in the Pika Configuration menu.
Create and Update NPR Best Books Lists
To create or update a NPR Books We Love list, use the drop down menu to choose the desired NPR list and use the Create/Update List button.
The drop down menu populates with all the NPR Books We Love lists that are available from the NPR Books Concierge. Each list will have a publication year associated.
Once you have created or updated a list, you will see success dialog and a link to the created or updated list.
The Create/Update List function creates or updates a public user list of all the items in the catalog that Pika can find relative to the NPR List from the NPR Books Concierge.

If the NPR list includes titles that cannot be found in the catalog, the titles will not appear in the list. |
Any lists that have been created or updated will display as NPR Books We Love - Year. The Last Updated column is relative to the last time the list was updated or initially created.

NPR Best Books We Love Lists can be added as Browse Categories following the documentation for Creating a Browse Category from User List Admin Options.

BestBooks We Love Lists in Catalog Search Results
If your library includes public user lists in search results, the NYT Lists NPR Books We Love lists will be returned in search results.
Perform a keyword search for NPR Books and limit the format to Lists for easy access.
Clicking into a NPR Books List from the search results will deliver you to the list’s page, with all the expected features of a user list.
