Newspaper Authentication
This documentation describes how to configure the Newspaper Authentication section of the Library System Settings
Newspaper Authentication basics
Pika can support authentication for several newspapers, where users login with their library credentials in Pika to authenticate access for a given newspaper and then be directed to the landing page for that newspaper.
Libraries authenticating login for newspapers (specifically New York Times, Washington Post, and Wall Street Journal) through EZProxy maintained by Marmot should not use this feature.
Newspaper Authentication configuration
Go to Pika Configuration and Library Systems from the left sidebar.
Click the Library Id number or the Edit link to gain access to the Library Systems page.
Click on the Newspaper Authentication tab to open the Newspaper Authentication settings menu.
New York Times
Enter the proxy URL for your library’s New York Times site. Typically this is provided by the vendor.
The Pika login page for authentication will be available at a URL structured with your library’s Pika domain followed by /MyAccount/NYTimes e.g. https://boulder.marmot.org/MyAccount/NYTimes .
The login page for the New York Times authentication includes some general information about which newspaper the patron is accessing from the login screen and steps they’ll need to take in the newspaper’s portal for access e.g. creating an account.

If your library is participating in Marmot’s Wall Street Journal subscription, Marmot staff will have access to the URL needed for your library as provided by the vendor.

The Pika login page for authentication will be available at a URL structured with your library’s Pika domain followed by /MyAccount/WSJ e.g. https://bemis.marmot.org /MyAccount/WSJ .
