Flatirons Libraries & Marmot

Over the years, Marmot has worked closely with the Flatirons Library Consortium (FLC) in a number of areas.  The FLC consists of six municipal libraries in the Flatirons region of Colorado:  Boulder, Broomfield, Lafayette, Longmont, Louisville, and Loveland.  Marmot currently hosts the Flatirons Sierra server, and the FLC has been a Pika Discovery Partner.

The board of directors for FLC unanimously voted on July 28th, 2022, to dissolve the FLC in favor of individual memberships with Marmot Library Network.  The Marmot Executive Board will, in turn, vote on the approval of the membership of the six individual libraries at their upcoming meeting on August 25th.  Pending this vote by the Marmot Executive Board, the six libraries will become voting members of Marmot on January 1, 2023.

Since the beginning of these conversations, the Marmot Board and Marmot leadership have viewed this potential partnership as a way to expand Marmot’s staffing and support for Sierra.  As a result of this new partnership, Marmot will add a new ILS Administrator position to the User Services team in 2023.  This new position will provide much-needed backup to Brandon, and will enable the User Services team to be even more responsive to your Sierra needs.

There are many details and questions to be worked out over the coming months as Marmot works with the FLC libraries on the transition.  We are all very excited about this new partnership, and the opportunity it presents to grow our ability to support all member libraries.Â
