ILS/Account Integration
Go to Pika Configuration and Library Systems from the left sidebar.
Click the Library Id number, or the Edit link to gain access to the Library Systems page.
The ILS/Account Integration is something that Marmot will typically configure for you. It normally does not change once it is configured.
ILS Code
The ILS Code is your code within the ILS. The ILS code drives several different elements and scoping in Pika.

Sierra Scope
and Use ScopeThe Sierra Scope is only used by Innovative Systems and is assigned by Innovative. This is the value for the scope in the Classic OPAC/WebPAC. The Sierra Scope is used when Pika interacts with the classic OPAC.
The Sierra Scope is required for the following functionality:
To display extra information for periodicals and the check-in grids.
For libraries using Sierra materials bookings.
To import user lists from the classic OPAC.
Course Reserves searching.
Show Expiration Warnings
If Show Expiration Warnings is enabled, expiration warnings will display when patrons are logged into Pika and their account expiration date is soon approaching or their account has expired.
Below is an example of expiration warnings in a patron account. If the patron hovers over the information they will get a message to contact their local library to renew their card.
If the patron clicks on the expiration warning in their account menu, they return a pop-up dialog.
Expiration Messages
If you do not fulfill the expiration messages with unique messaging the system default messaging will be used if you’ve enabled the Show Expiration Warnings option.
The Expiration Near Message is used to notify a patron that their expiration date is near. Include the token %date% to have the system populate the patron’s expiration date into the message. The character limit is 500.
The Expired Message is used to notify a patron that their account has expired. Include the token %date% to have the system populate the patron’s expiration date into the message. The character limit is 500.
Materials Booking
Materials Booking is a system that requires that materials booking module to be enabled within Sierra. This is only available for libraries using the Sierra ILS.
Note |
---|
If you want to enable materials booking functionality for your library, please contact Marmot staff. There are several components that must configured within the ILS before materials booking functionality will interact properly in Pika. |
Allow Linked Accounts
The Allow Linked Accounts option allows patrons to link their library accounts within Pika. This is based on the patron’s home library.
There is more detailed information about linked account functionality in the Linked Accounts in the Catalog documentation.
Note |
---|
If you enable account linking, it will only be effective for the individual library system. |
Show Library Hours Notice
The Show Library Holidays Hours Notice on Account Pages option will display library hours and library holiday closures in the Checked Out Titles and Titles on Hold account pages for patrons that are logged into the catalog.
Below is an example of a library’s hours and an example of a holiday closure within Checked Out Titles page.
P-Types
P-Types are used for calculating how loan rules apply to titles in the library's scope and determine if the title is holdable or bookable. P-types in the library system configuration work in conjunction with the P-types table and library loan rules and loan rule determiners from the ILS that are loaded in to Pika.
The P-Types field is a list of the all the patron types used by the individual library.
The Default P-Type value is referenced when a user is browsing an individual library’s Pika interface but not logged in. Pika will assume the anonymous user has the P-Type that is listed under the Default P-Type. If a default P-Type is not set, then users will not see the Place Hold buttons in records and search unless they are logged in.
Info |
---|
For a consortium interface to display hold buttons, the P-Types and Default P-Types need to be set to -1 |
